Athens is also worth a visit in its most contemporary part, with its squares with characteristic tavernas, lively areas such as the ancient Plaka district at the foot of the Acropolis, the modern cafe bars and the excellent restaurants at Lycabetto or Avisynia square (stop of the underground) with its musical and dance performances.
